What Can Cause a House Fire to Spread Through a Home?
A residential fire can spread quickly when flames reach combustible materials inside a structure. Furniture, insulation, wood framing, and other household materials can provide fuel as a fire moves from one area to another. Smoke can also spread beyond the area where flames first appear.
Fire investigations could examine the location where the fire began, burn patterns, electrical systems, appliances, and other potential sources. The condition of the structure can provide additional clues about how the fire developed. Investigators may also review witness accounts and available evidence to determine what caused the blaze.
