What Is Commonly Reviewed After a Residential Fire?
After a residential fire, investigators typically examine the origin of the flames and how they spread through the structure. Physical evidence, burn patterns, electrical systems, appliances, and other potential ignition sources may all be evaluated during the review.
Fire damage can vary depending on the building’s layout, construction materials, and how quickly the flames were contained. Smoke movement and heat patterns may also provide valuable information about the sequence of the fire.
When people are hurt, medical findings can help document the types of injuries associated with heat, smoke exposure, or burns. As investigators gather and analyze evidence, they can develop a more complete picture of how the fire started and progressed.
