What Can Cause T-Bone Collisions in Parking Lots?
Parking lots can present unique driving challenges due to frequent vehicle movements, intersecting travel lanes, pedestrians, and limited visibility around parked cars. Drivers enter and exit parking spaces while others travel through access lanes, creating multiple potential conflict points.
T-bone collisions, also known as side-impact crashes, may occur when one vehicle enters the path of another at an intersection or crossing point within a parking area. These crashes can result in injuries even at relatively low speeds because vehicle occupants have less protection on the sides.
Investigators reviewing parking lot collisions commonly examine vehicle positions, right-of-way considerations, witness statements, and damage patterns. These details can help establish how the collision occurred and identify factors that may have contributed to the incident.
