Wapello County, IA (August 21, 2026) – Two semi drivers were injured on Wednesday, August 19, when two tractor-trailers collided on Highway 63.
The accident occurred around 1:30 p.m. in the 4000 block of Highway 63. One semi was stopped while waiting to turn left into a driveway when another tractor-trailer struck it from behind.
Hydraulic tools were needed to free one driver. The driver of the semi that struck the other vehicle was taken by air ambulance to a Des Moines hospital, while the other driver was taken by ground ambulance to a local hospital.
The investigation into the wreck is continuing as officials work to establish the full circumstances. We hope both drivers recover well.
