Cumberland County, IL (August 7, 2026) – Two people were hurt early on Thursday morning in a three-vehicle collision involving a semi-truck on Interstate 70 in Cumberland County.
The accident occurred at approximately 5:45 a.m. in the eastbound lanes near Casey. According to the Illinois State Police, three vehicles were involved, including a semi-truck. Two people were airlifted from the roadway to a regional hospital for treatment. Their conditions have not been released.
The eastbound lanes of Interstate 70 were closed following the collision, with traffic diverted at Greenup while crews worked at the site. The highway reopened at 7:49 a.m. Additional details about the people involved and the circumstances leading to the collision have not been made public.
