What Happens When a Vehicle Rolls Over During a Traffic Collision?
Rollover crashes are among the more complex types of roadway accidents because they can involve multiple points of contact and varying damage patterns. A vehicle may roll onto its side or roof after striking another vehicle, a curb, a median, or another object near the roadway.
When a rollover occurs, investigators often examine vehicle positions, roadway markings, witness accounts, and damage to determine how the sequence unfolded. The movement of each vehicle before and after contact can provide valuable clues about the factors involved.
Medical evaluations following a rollover frequently focus on identifying injuries that may not be immediately apparent. Even when occupants appear alert after the crash, healthcare providers may assess them for head, neck, back, or internal trauma. Additional information often emerges over time as reports, medical findings, and witness statements are reviewed.
