Bennsville, MD (May 26, 2026) – A serious two-vehicle rollover crash near the intersection of Bensville Road and Billingsley Road in Bennsville left two people hospitalized on Monday night, May 25, at approximately 9:35 p.m.
Investigators said one vehicle rolled multiple times during the collision, ejecting a 30-year-old woman from the car. Emergency information indicated she was not wearing a seatbelt and was found unresponsive with intermittent periods of awareness. She reported pain in her left side and was airlifted to MedStar Washington Hospital Center for treatment.
A 50-year-old man involved in the crash was initially not found at the immediate site. He was later located about an hour afterward near Bensville Road and Bancroft Drive and transported by ground ambulance to UM Capital Region Medical Center.
Further details about the sequence of events leading to the rollover were not released. The investigation into the two-vehicle crash remains ongoing. Our hearts are with the injured, and we hope for their healing.
Why Rollover Crashes Often Result in Serious Injuries
Rollover crashes can be especially dangerous because vehicles may rotate multiple times, exposing occupants to repeated forces and potential ejection. The risk of severe injury increases significantly when seat belts are not used, as passengers may be thrown from the vehicle during the rollover sequence.
Emergency response in these situations often depends on the severity of injuries and accessibility of the crash site. Air medical transport is sometimes used when rapid treatment at trauma centers is needed. Investigators typically examine vehicle damage patterns, roadway conditions, and occupant positioning to better understand how the rollover began and progressed.
