Why Two-Vehicle Crashes Can Cause Serious Injuries
Two-vehicle crashes can lead to serious injuries when the force of impact affects the front, side, or passenger area of a vehicle. People inside may be hurt by seat belts, airbags, doors, dashboards, or broken glass. Injuries may involve the head, chest, back, arms, legs, or internal organs.
Road closures after serious crashes help investigators safely document the scene. They may review vehicle positions, damage patterns, road markings, traffic speed, visibility, and witness statements. Crash response teams may also measure the roadway and gather evidence to help determine how the vehicles came together. Hospital care is often needed after a serious roadway impact to check for both visible and hidden trauma.
