Macon, GA (June 16, 2026) – One driver died, and another was hurt on Monday morning, June 15, after two trucks were involved on Bass Road in north Macon.
The accident happened near Snows Memorial Chapel in the 1400 block of Bass Road. The report said a Chevrolet GMT 3500 utility truck and a Peterbilt 358 commercial vehicle were involved.
Robert Jackson, 36, was driving the utility truck when the vehicles collided. The utility truck overturned after the contact, and Jackson was pronounced dead at the site.
The 62-year-old Peterbilt driver was treated by emergency units before being brought to a local hospital. He was later described as stable. Both directions of Bass Road reopened shortly after noon. The wreck remains under review as investigators work to confirm the full sequence of travel.
Our condolences go to Jackson’s family and friends during this difficult time, and we wish the injured driver a speedy recovery.
Why Commercial Truck Collisions Can Lead to Serious Outcomes
Commercial trucks can create severe outcomes because of their size, weight, and height. When a smaller work vehicle and a larger truck make contact, the force can affect each vehicle differently. One may overturn, while the other may stay upright but still leave the driver needing medical care.
Road design can also shape the results. Turning lanes, stopped traffic, nearby driveways, and two-way travel can reduce the space drivers have to react. Even a brief change in vehicle path can become dangerous when large trucks are nearby.
After a serious truck-related roadway accident, reviews usually look at travel direction, lane position, vehicle damage, and the final resting place of each truck. These facts help explain how the roadway contact unfolded.
