Frequently Asked Questions
Where do most traffic accidents happen?
A large share of serious crashes occur on highways and interstates, where higher speeds and heavy truck traffic raise the stakes of any collision, though crashes also cluster at intersections in cities and towns.
What injuries are most common in car accidents?
Common injuries include whiplash and other neck and back strains, broken bones, head injuries, and cuts from broken glass or debris. Crashes involving large trucks often produce more severe injuries because of the size and weight difference between vehicles.
What are the most common causes of car accidents?
Distracted driving, speeding, following too closely, impaired driving, and poor weather or road conditions are frequently cited factors in crash investigations, though a specific cause is not always released until an investigation wraps up.
What to Do After a Car Accident in Vail, Arizona
If you're involved in a highway crash near Vail, move to a safe location if your vehicle is drivable and turn on hazard lights. Call 911 and wait for troopers or emergency crews to arrive before attempting to assess damage near moving traffic.
Even if you feel fine, it's worth getting checked by a medical provider. Some injuries, especially from sudden stops or impacts with larger vehicles, don't show symptoms right away. Keep copies of any medical records and the police report, and photograph the scene and vehicle positions if it's safe to do so.
Highway crashes involving commercial trucks can take time to investigate fully. Be patient with the process, and reach out to your insurance company promptly to begin documenting the incident.
