Frequently Asked Questions
Does speed make a left-turn crash worse?
Yes. Higher closing speeds give drivers less time to react to a car turning into their path and increase the force of impact, which raises the chance of serious injury.
Why is distracted driving a factor in turning collisions?
A driver who is checking a phone or otherwise not focused can misjudge the gap needed to turn safely in front of oncoming traffic, which is a common cause of these crashes.
Do weather or road conditions play a role in crashes like this?
Glare, rain, or low morning light can make it harder for a turning driver to judge the speed and distance of an approaching vehicle, even on a clear roadway.
What should I do right after a car accident?
Check for injuries, move to safety if possible, call 911, and exchange information with the other driver. Get a medical evaluation even if you feel fine, since some injuries aren't immediately obvious.
What to Do After a Turn Collision in Valdosta, GA
If you're involved in a crash where another vehicle turns into your path, start by getting checked by a medical provider, even for injuries that seem minor, like foot or ankle pain. Document the scene with photos if you're able, and get the names and contact information of any witnesses. Request a copy of the official crash report once it's available, and keep records of any medical visits or missed work tied to the incident. Giving yourself time to heal, and following up on medical care, matters more than rushing back to a normal routine.
