Duncan, OK (August 23, 2026) – A bicyclist lost their life after being struck by a vehicle on the southbound shoulder of US 81 in Duncan on Friday, August 21. The Oklahoma Highway Patrol has released more information regarding the incident.
According to the patrol, the bicyclist was traveling along the southbound shoulder when off-duty Duncan police officer Jarrod Bishop entered the shoulder and struck the bicyclist. The pedestrian died as a result of the accident.
Bishop was booked into the Stephens County Jail, and the Duncan Police Department placed him on administrative leave. The available information does not provide further details about the circumstances surrounding the impact.
