Frequently Asked Questions
What makes a crash more likely to turn deadly? Factors such as high speed, a vehicle entering an intersection against a stop sign or signal, and the number of vehicles involved can all raise the chances of a fatal outcome.
Does speed really change the odds of surviving a crash? Yes. Higher speeds mean more force at impact, which increases the risk of serious or fatal injury even in vehicles equipped with modern safety features.
Why do officials emphasize seat belt use after a crash like this? Seat belts keep occupants in position and reduce the chance of being thrown from a vehicle or against its interior during a collision, which can lower the severity of injuries.
What should families do after a loved one dies in a crash? They can request the official crash report from the investigating agency, contact the county coroner's office with questions, and reach out to local victim support services for guidance.
