Virginia Beach, VA (January 1, 2026) – A deadly single-vehicle crash took place Saturday evening in Virginia Beach, leaving one man dead and a teenage passenger injured. The accident occurred around 5:41 p.m. in the 1400 block of Lynnhaven Pkwy.
Virginia Beach Police responded to the scene and discovered that the vehicle had left the roadway and struck a tree. The driver, identified as 32-year-old Maalik Wilson of Fayetteville, NC, was pronounced dead at the scene. A juvenile passenger in the vehicle was transported to a nearby hospital with injuries described as non-life-threatening.
According to authorities, Wilson had been traveling eastbound on Lynnhaven Pkwy when, for reasons still under investigation, the vehicle veered off the road and collided with the tree. No other vehicles were involved in the incident.
The area remained closed for several hours as police conducted an initial investigation and cleared the scene. Officials have not released further details regarding possible contributing factors such as speed, weather conditions, or impairment.
The crash remains under investigation by the Virginia Beach Police Department.
