WALDORF, Charles County, Md., Oct. 20, 2026 — Three people were injured Monday afternoon, October 19, in a multi-vehicle rollover crash near Streamview Drive and Berry Road in Waldorf, according to emergency communications. The crash also knocked down live power lines in the intersection, complicating the response.
The crash was reported at about 3:50 p.m. Monday. Initial radio traffic indicated one vehicle had rolled onto its side while another came to rest against a tree, emergency communications show. One vehicle was reportedly smoking at the scene, adding to the concern for crews arriving to help.
First responders initially were told as many as five people might need to be extricated. That number was later revised; crews confirmed all occupants had gotten out or been removed from the vehicles by about 4 p.m., with nobody left trapped inside.
Three people were hurt, according to the report. Those evaluated included a 30-year-old man, a woman described as in her 60s or 70s, and a 20-year-old man who reported chest pain. Fire and EMS crews called for multiple ambulances to handle patient care. It has not been confirmed whether anyone was taken to a hospital.
The crash knocked electrical wires into the roadway, and crews flagged them as live shortly after arriving. A traffic signal and a fire hydrant near the intersection were also reported out of service. Whether the intersection remained closed afterward was not immediately confirmed, and the cause of the crash has not been released.
We wish the injured a complete and speedy recovery.

Frequently Asked Questions
Does wearing a seat belt matter in a rollover crash?
Yes. Seat belts keep occupants from being thrown around the cabin or ejected when a vehicle rolls, which is one of the biggest factors in whether people walk away with minor injuries or serious ones.
What is a "tripped" rollover?
That's when a vehicle sliding sideways catches a curb, soft shoulder, guardrail, or other object that causes it to tip over. Many rollovers in everyday traffic happen this way after a collision pushes a vehicle off its path.
Are some roads more likely to see rollovers than others?
Rollovers happen more often on roads with higher speed limits, narrow medians, or intersections where vehicles can be struck at an angle and pushed off course, similar to the setup involved in this crash.
What to Do After a Multi-Vehicle Rollover Crash in Waldorf, MD
If you're involved in a rollover, stay as still as possible until you can assess whether it's safe to move, since adrenaline can mask injuries to the neck or back. Get checked by a medical provider even if you feel fine at the scene, chest pain or soreness can take hours to surface. If downed wires or damaged utilities are nearby, stay well back and wait for crews to confirm the area is safe. Finally, remember to request a copy of the police report once it's available and keep records of any medical visits tied to the crash.
