Understanding Hit-and-Run Bicycle Crashes
Bicyclists are especially vulnerable in traffic, as collisions with motor vehicles often result in serious or fatal injuries. Lack of protective gear, such as helmets, can increase the severity of injuries in a crash.
Hit-and-run incidents create additional risks because emergency responders may arrive later, delaying medical attention. Vehicle speed, roadway design, and visibility all affect the likelihood and outcome of bicycle crashes. Identifying the driver quickly is crucial for safety and accountability, but early reports often focus on confirming facts and assessing injuries.
