Waterbury, VT (January 25, 2026) – A fatal head-on collision occurred on Saturday evening on Route 100 near Stowebury Rd in Waterbury, resulting in one death and two injuries, according to Vermont State Police.
Authorities report that 61-year-old Paula Breining of Waitsfield was driving south when her vehicle crossed the center line and collided with a northbound car. Breining was pronounced dead at the scene. The occupants of the second vehicle, Rohtash Kumar and Sita Devi, both 41 and from Montpelier, were injured and transported to a nearby hospital for medical treatment.
The crash prompted a temporary closure of Route 100 at approximately 6:30 p.m., with the roadway reopening around 8:00 p.m. Investigators are continuing to examine the factors that may have led to the collision.
