Where do most traffic accidents happen?
A large share of crashes occur on rural highways and farm-to-market roads, where higher speeds and limited shoulders can turn a single-vehicle mistake into a serious wreck.
How can drivers reduce their crash risk?
Slowing down for road conditions, staying alert for curves or soft shoulders, and keeping both hands on the wheel in rural stretches like FM roads all help avoid losing control.
What injuries are most common in car accidents?
Crashes involving a vehicle leaving the road often cause head, neck, and chest injuries, along with injuries from entrapment when a vehicle comes to rest at an angle or against an obstacle.
What are the most common causes of car accidents?
Speeding, distraction, impairment, and driver fatigue are frequent factors, though the cause of any individual crash is confirmed only after investigators complete their review.
What to Do After a Car Accident in Waxahachie, TX
If you're involved in a crash on a rural road, move to a safe spot if you're able and call 911 right away. Stay as still as possible if you're trapped or in pain, and let trained responders handle extrication rather than trying to free yourself or others. Even if you feel fine, get checked by a medical professional, since injuries like concussions or internal bleeding aren't always obvious right away. Once everyone is safe, note what you remember about the road conditions and request a copy of the official crash report for your records.
