WEST SACRAMENTO, Yolo County, Calif., Sept. 28, 2026 — A two-vehicle crash injured one driver Sunday morning, September 27, on westbound U.S. Highway 50 at Jefferson Boulevard in West Sacramento, according to the California Highway Patrol. The collision blocked multiple lanes during the morning commute.
The California Highway Patrol said a gray Tesla and a white Toyota sedan crash on westbound US-50 near the Jefferson Boulevard exit shortly before 8 a.m. According to a driver's account relayed to dispatchers, the Toyota was traveling in a right-hand lane while the Tesla, in a slower lane, attempted to pass another vehicle and swerved into its path. Both vehicles reportedly sustained major damage and were described as totaled.
The driver of the Toyota was reported bleeding and cut, and was transferred to Yolo County Fire for treatment. That vehicle was also reported smoking at one point, and the driver was told it was unsafe to exit before crews arrived.
Responders closed the number one and two lanes and later needed help blocking the right shoulder lane while tow crews worked. Two tow companies were called to the scene to remove both vehicles, and CHP units worked to clear the roadway as backups formed in the slow lanes.
