WEST SACRAMENTO, Yolo County, Calif., Nov. 2, 2026 — A three-vehicle crash left at least one person injured on Sunday afternoon, November 1, on westbound Interstate 80 near Enterprise Boulevard, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The CHP said the collision involved a white GMC Yukon, a Toyota Prius and a third vehicle whose make has not been released. The crash was first logged as a collision with unknown injuries before being upgraded to a confirmed injury crash, the agency's traffic log shows. All vehicles reportedly came to rest on the right shoulder after the impact.

Emergency crews requested a tow transport for at least one vehicle removed from the scene.

The collision remains under review. We hope those who were hurt recover fully.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do weather and road conditions affect crash risk?

Wet pavement, poor visibility and uneven traffic flow can all reduce a driver's reaction time and stopping distance, raising the chance of a chain-reaction crash like a multi-vehicle pileup on a freeway.

Where do most multi-vehicle crashes happen?

Many multi-vehicle collisions occur on highways and interstates, usually near merge points, exits or areas where traffic slows suddenly, such as the I-80 corridor through West Sacramento.

Separately, how can drivers lower the odds of being caught in this type of crash?

Keeping a safe following distance, staying alert near highway interchanges and slowing down when brake lights appear ahead can help drivers avoid getting pulled into a chain-reaction collision.
