Frequently Asked Questions

What injuries are commonly reported in two-vehicle crashes like this one?

Occupants can suffer anything from whiplash and bruising to broken bones or head injuries, depending on the speed and angle of impact. Injuries aren't always obvious right away, which is why medical evaluation after any collision is recommended.

What typically causes crashes at intersections like Imperial Highway and Meyer Road?

Common factors include failure to yield, distracted driving, speeding, and misjudging gaps in traffic. Investigators have not yet said what led to this crash.

Does driving speed make a difference in how serious a crash is?

Yes. Higher speeds give drivers less time to react and increase the force of impact, which tends to raise the risk of serious injury even in otherwise similar collisions.

Why is distracted driving considered such a risk on roads like this?

Taking eyes or attention off the road for even a few seconds can mean missing a stopped vehicle, a light change, or a car entering from a side street, any of which can lead to a crash like this one.
