Why Scooter Crashes Can Lead to Serious Injuries
Scooter riders have less protection than people inside cars or trucks. Even a lower-speed impact can throw a rider onto the road or into another object. This can lead to head, leg, arm, or chest injuries.
Crashes involving scooters may also be harder for drivers to avoid at night. Smaller vehicles can be difficult to see, especially near intersections or areas with mixed traffic.
Medical checks after scooter crashes often focus on alertness, breathing, visible injuries, and possible head trauma. A person may first appear worse at the scene, then show signs of improvement after emergency units arrive.
