Frequently Asked Questions
Why do motorcycle and moped crashes tend to cause more serious injuries?
Riders have no vehicle frame or airbags around them, so a crash that a car occupant might walk away from can leave a rider with broken bones or worse.
How do turning vehicles end up colliding with motorcycles or mopeds?
A driver turning across traffic may misjudge a rider's speed or simply not see a smaller vehicle, especially at intersections or driveways, leading to a collision as the rider has little room to react.
What can drivers do to spot motorcycles and mopeds more easily?
Checking mirrors and blind spots twice before turning or changing lanes, and giving extra distance, gives drivers more time to notice a smaller vehicle in traffic.
What should a rider do after being hurt in a crash like this?
Get medical care right away even if injuries seem minor, contact local police to file a report, and try to note any details about the other vehicle involved, including direction of travel.
