Frequently Asked Questions
What typically causes crashes like this one?
Collisions between vehicles traveling in opposite directions usually stem from a vehicle drifting out of its lane, a misjudged pass, or loss of control on slick pavement. Wet roads, as reported in this crash, can reduce tire grip and lengthen stopping distances.
Does speed make a difference in how serious a crash is?
Yes. Higher speeds give drivers less time to react and increase the force involved in a collision, which tends to raise the risk of serious injury.
Why is distracted driving considered so risky?
Even a few seconds of looking away from the road, such as at a phone, can be enough to miss a hazard, stray out of a lane, or fail to brake in time.
How do weather and road surface conditions factor into crashes?
Rain, wet pavement, or debris can reduce traction and make steering and braking less predictable, which is part of why road conditions are usually noted in crash reports.
What to Do After a Car Accident in Wilson Township, Minnesota
If you're involved in a crash in a rural area like Wilson Township, move to a safe spot if possible and call 911 right away. Stay put until law enforcement and medical crews arrive, even if injuries aren't immediately obvious, since some symptoms take hours to appear. Exchange insurance and contact information with the other driver if you're able, and take photos of the vehicles, the roadway, and any skid marks or debris. Follow up with a doctor in the days after the crash for a full checkup, and request a copy of the official crash report once it's available for your records.
