WINSTON, Douglas County, Ore., Nov. 8, 2026 — One driver was taken to a hospital after a three-vehicle crash on Thursday morning, November 5, at the intersection of Highway 42 and Brockway Road near Winston, according to Oregon State Police.
The report said an SUV was stopped at the intersection around 7:45 a.m. and attempted to cross the highway when its driver reportedly did not see a second SUV approaching. The two vehicles collided in the eastbound lane. The second SUV then struck a school bus that had stopped on the other side of Brockway Road, state police said.
The bus was carrying a driver and 10 students at the time. The driver of the second SUV, a 79-year-old man, was taken to CHI Mercy Medical Center with injuries described as minor. Two children on the bus were evaluated by medical personnel at the scene and released without transport.
Both SUVs were towed from the scene. The bus was able to be driven away afterward. Oregon State Police have not said whether any citations were issued, and the crash remains under review.
We wish those injured a full recovery.
