Markleville, IN (July 30, 2026) – A 29-year-old woman was critically hurt in a three-vehicle accident at the intersection of State Roads 38 and 109 near Markleville on Tuesday morning, July 28. The collision was reported at approximately 10:00 a.m.
According to the Madison County Sheriff’s Department, a semi pulling an unloaded trailer was traveling south on State Road 109 when it failed to stop at the intersection. The truck struck a 2018 Chevrolet sedan that was traveling east on State Road 38.
The force of the collision pushed the Chevrolet into a nearby building. The Markleville woman was taken to St. Vincent Hospital in Anderson before being airlifted to St. Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis in critical condition. The semi driver, a 30-year-old man from Brooklyn, New York, was not hurt. A third vehicle, driven by a 20-year-old man from Fishers, sustained minor damage, and its driver was uninjured.
