Gilbert, AZ (July 19, 2026) – A fatal morning collision at the intersection of Cooper Road and Merrill Avenue left a female driver dead on Friday, July 17. The collision happened shortly after 10 a.m.
According to Gilbert police, the woman was found unresponsive and trapped inside one of the vehicles involved. Firefighters removed her from the vehicle, but she was pronounced dead. The driver of the second vehicle was not injured in the crash.
The intersection was closed for several hours while crews worked at the scene. The woman’s identity has not been released, and the cause of the crash remains unknown. Our condolences go out to the victim’s loved ones.
