Glendale, AZ (May 27, 2026) – A woman was seriously injured Tuesday evening after a two-vehicle crash near the intersection of 67th Avenue and Camelback Road in Glendale. The collision happened around 7 p.m., according to police.
Investigators said the crash involved a pickup truck traveling northbound on 67th Avenue and a midsize SUV traveling southbound. As both vehicles approached the intersection, the traffic signal turned red. Police said the SUV was turning left onto eastbound Camelback Road when the vehicles collided.
The pickup overturned during the crash, and the woman driving it was ejected from the vehicle. She was taken to a hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries and was reportedly awake and speaking while being transported. Both vehicles remained at the scene after the collision.
The entire intersection was shut down in all directions while crews cleared the roadway. Investigators said it remains too early to determine whether impairment contributed to the wreck.
Police continue investigating the circumstances surrounding the intersection collision. We are thinking of the injured woman and wish her a full recovery.
Why Vehicle Ejections Often Lead to Severe Injuries
Vehicle ejections during crashes can greatly increase the risk of serious harm because occupants may strike the roadway, another vehicle, or nearby objects after leaving the vehicle. Rollovers and intersection crashes are among the most common situations where ejections occur, especially when a vehicle overturns after a sudden change in direction.
Investigators reviewing these crashes often examine seat belt use, vehicle speed, and the angle of contact between the vehicles. Intersections with turning traffic can become especially hazardous when drivers are trying to clear a light before it changes. Traffic signal timing, visibility, and roadway markings may also be reviewed to help determine how the collision unfolded.
