Greensburg, IN (June 10, 2026) – A 34-year-old woman from Milan was flown to an Indianapolis hospital after a two-vehicle crash near Greensburg.
The roadway mishap happened around 8:20 a.m. on Monday, June 8, at the intersection of State Road 3 and County Road 250 West in Decatur County. According to investigators, the woman had stopped her 2010 Toyota sedan at a red light while traveling northbound on SR 3 when a 2021 International truck struck the rear of her vehicle.
The force of the hit caused the Toyota to spin around before coming to rest facing southbound. The woman was alone inside the car, while the truck was occupied only by a 23-year-old Indianapolis man.
Emergency units took the driver to Decatur County Memorial Hospital before she was airlifted to an Indianapolis medical facility with non-life-threatening injuries. The truck driver was not reported as hurt. Investigators are still working to determine all contributing factors connected to the crash.
We hope the injured woman experiences a smooth and full recovery.
Why Rear-End Crashes at Intersections Can Lead to Serious Injuries
Rear-end crashes frequently happen near traffic signals and intersections where drivers must slow down or stop unexpectedly. Even at moderate speeds, these collisions can cause significant harm because occupants often have little warning before being struck from behind. Sudden force can place stress on the neck, back, and head, sometimes leading to injuries that require extended medical evaluation.
Large commercial trucks can also increase the severity of these crashes due to their size and weight. Vehicle damage, stopping distance, roadway visibility, and traffic signal timing are commonly reviewed after this type of roadway collision. Medical records and witness statements may also help provide a clearer picture of how the sequence unfolded, especially during the early stages of the review process.
