What Factors Are Reviewed in High-Speed Median-Crossing Crashes?
When a vehicle crosses a median at high speed, investigators typically examine the vehicle’s speed, roadway design, and the driver’s behavior leading up to the event. These details help establish how control was lost and why the vehicle entered opposing lanes.
Scene evidence such as tire marks, impact points, and vehicle positions can help reconstruct the sequence of events. Weather and lighting conditions may also be reviewed to understand visibility at the time. Witness accounts provide additional context about the vehicle’s movement before the crash.
Investigators may also look at roadway barriers, signage, and traffic patterns in the area. All findings are combined to build a clearer picture of how the collision unfolded.
