West Liberty, KY (June 8, 2026) – A 66-year-old West Liberty woman died following a collision on US Highway 460 West near a veterinary clinic in West Liberty on Friday, June 5, at approximately 3:00 p.m. The woman has been identified as Linda Sue Bush.
According to a preliminary investigation, a 2019 Chevrolet rollback truck was traveling on US-460 when the vehicle ahead of it slowed to turn onto Veterinarian Lane. The rollback moved into the passing lane to go around the slowing vehicle. At that moment, Bush’s 2024 Chevrolet Equinox was exiting Veterinarian Lane and was struck by the rollback.
Bush was taken to a hospital in West Liberty and later airlifted to Cabell Huntington Hospital, where she died from her injuries. No information about the rollback driver was included in the initial report on the accident. The wreck remains under active investigation, and additional details are expected as the review continues.
We extend our heartfelt condolences to Linda Sue Bush’s family and all who knew and cared for her.
What Drivers Should Know About Passing Maneuvers Near Side Streets in Kentucky
Passing another vehicle near an intersection or driveway is one of the more dangerous maneuvers a driver can attempt on a two-lane highway. When a vehicle slows to turn, drivers behind it may attempt to pass without knowing whether someone is simultaneously exiting from the cross street or driveway. The two movements can result in a direct collision with little to no warning for either driver.
Kentucky traffic law generally prohibits passing in areas where sight distance is limited or where a vehicle ahead is signaling a turn. Even when a passing lane is available, drivers are expected to account for vehicles entering or exiting from adjacent roads. A vehicle exiting a driveway or side street may not be visible to a passing driver until it is already in the travel lane.
Rural highways in Morgan County usually have driveways and side roads with limited visibility due to curves, vegetation, or elevation changes. These conditions make driver awareness around turning vehicles and side-street exits especially important.
