Boston, MA (June 22, 2026) – A woman lost her life following a hit-and-run crash involving a pedestrian on Blue Hill Ave in the Mattapan neighborhood of Boston on Sunday afternoon, June 21.
According to the Boston police, officers responded to the 1600 block of Blue Hill Ave at approximately 2 p.m. after receiving reports of a pedestrian struck by a vehicle.
Investigators said the victim, an adult woman, was hit by a vehicle and suffered fatal injuries. Witnesses reported that the woman was dragged before the driver continued down the roadway; she was pronounced dead at the scene. Authorities have not yet released the victim’s identity.
The police later arrested 37-year-old Ibraim Matos of Hyde Park in connection with the incident. He has been charged with murder, carjacking, leaving the scene of an accident resulting in death, and leaving the scene of an accident resulting in personal injury.
Officials said the incident also involved a subsequent carjacking. Matos is expected to be arraigned in Dorchester District Court. The investigation remains ongoing as authorities continue to gather evidence related to the fatal crash and related events.
