Ludlow, IL (August 14, 2026) – A 69-year-old Chicago woman died on Friday morning, August 14, after a two-vehicle collision involving a passenger car and a semi-truck on Interstate 57 near Ludlow. The crash occurred at approximately 12:48 a.m.
Multiple people were taken to the hospital with injuries following the impact. One occupant of the passenger car, identified as Elease Tolar, later died at Carle Hospital in Urbana.
Tolar was pronounced dead at approximately 7:03 a.m. The initial report did not provide details about the other injured patients or describe the severity of their conditions. Authorities continue reviewing the circumstances surrounding the accident.
