Laurel, DE (August 29, 2026) – A 54-year-old Delmar woman died on Thursday afternoon after a Nissan Frontier struck her Kia Sportage in Laurel. The collision happened around 5 p.m. on August 27 at Salt Barn Rd and Old Stage Rd.
According to Delaware State Police, the Nissan was traveling west on Salt Barn Rd when its driver failed to stop at a stop sign. The Frontier then struck the driver’s-side front of the Kia, which was traveling south on Old Stage Rd.
The Kia driver was pronounced dead at the scene. Her name was being withheld pending notification of her family.
The Nissan driver, a 63-year-old Laurel man, was taken by ground to TidalHealth Nanticoke with serious injuries. Salt Barn Rd remained closed for about four hours while the roadway was processed. The circumstances surrounding the fatal wreck are still being investigated.
