Woodbridge, NJ (February 20, 2026) – One person was killed, and three others were hurt in a crash early on Friday morning in Woodbridge. The collision happened just after midnight in the southbound lanes of Rte 1 at Gill Ave.
According to reports, the crash involved multiple vehicles. Sources say the incident began as a police chase before the vehicles collided. One person was pronounced dead at the scene.
Three others were taken to Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick for treatment. The extent of their injuries has not been released.
The highway remained closed for about 11 hours following the crash. Southbound lanes of Rte 1 reopened around 11 a.m.
This marks the second fatal crash in Woodbridge in two days. On Wednesday, September 17, another deadly accident occurred on Rte 27, leaving one person dead and two others injured.
