Frequently Asked Questions
How do weather and road conditions affect crash risk?
Wet pavement, low light, and debris on the roadway can all reduce traction and reaction time, making collisions more likely even at low speeds.
What should someone do right after a crash like this?
Call 911 immediately, avoid moving an injured person unless there's immediate danger, and wait for emergency responders to assess the scene.
Where do most traffic crashes happen?
A large share of crashes occur close to home, on local streets and intersections rather than highways, often because drivers are moving at slower speeds but with less attention to surroundings.
What to Do After a Motorcycle Crash in Woodstock, Illinois
Anyone involved in or who witnesses a motorcycle crash should call 911 right away and give responders a clear location. If it's safe to do so, avoid moving an injured rider, since head and spine injuries aren't always obvious right after a crash. Even riders who feel alert should be checked by medical staff, since adrenaline can mask pain from internal injuries. Once the immediate scene is handled, it helps to write down what was seen while the details are fresh and to follow up with local police for a copy of the official report.
