What Factors Are Considered in Garbage Truck Worker Accidents?

Garbage collection can involve workers moving around large trucks while the vehicles travel between stops. Workers may ride on designated exterior platforms, depending on the vehicle and work procedures. Safe operations generally require clear communication between the driver and workers before the truck moves.

Road conditions can also affect the risk of a serious accident. Ditches, uneven shoulders, narrow roads, poor visibility, and sudden changes in roadway position can create hazards for large collection vehicles. Vehicle speed and stopping distance may also affect how quickly a driver can respond to a roadway problem.

After an accident involving a garbage truck, records may include the vehicle’s condition, roadway layout, weather, visibility, and the positions of the people involved. These details can help establish how the incident occurred.
