Harris Co., TX (August 31, 2026) – One driver was killed early Saturday morning, August 29, in a wrong-way crash on the Eastex Freeway near Hartwick Road in north Harris County. The collision happened at approximately 2:00 a.m.
According to the Harris County Sheriff’s Office, deputies were dispatched after receiving reports of a wrong-way driver. When they arrived, they found that a Chevrolet pickup truck traveling the wrong direction had collided with a Honda Accord.
The driver of the Honda was pronounced dead at the scene. The pickup driver was taken to an area hospital.
The crash closed the Eastex Freeway for several hours, with traffic diverted at East Mount Houston Road.
Authorities continue reviewing the crash. We extend our sincere condolences to the family and loved ones of the driver who died.
