Rear-End Crashes and Slowing Highway Traffic
Main travel routes such as Interstate 70 often carry steady traffic throughout the day. When a crash occurs in Wyandotte County, responders usually work to secure the area, assist those involved, and adjust traffic flow.
Rear-end collisions commonly happen when traffic slows suddenly, and following drivers do not have enough time to react. Changes in speed, heavy traffic, or limited following distance can all increase the likelihood of these crashes.
Highway traffic patterns can shift quickly during peak travel times. When vehicles approach slower traffic at highway speeds, even a brief delay in braking can lead to a rear-end collision between vehicles traveling in the same direction.
