Tilton, NH (June 24, 2026) – A Florida woman is facing multiple charges following a multi-vehicle crash that seriously injured another driver on Interstate 93 in Tilton on Sunday afternoon.

According to the New Hampshire State Police, 76-year-old Dinah Tague was driving on I-93 when her vehicle struck a Toyota. Investigators said the force of the collision sent the Toyota into a wooded area, where a tree fell onto the vehicle and trapped the driver inside.

The Toyota driver was seriously injured and rushed to a hospital for treatment. Officials did not release the person’s identity.

Police said Tague continued driving after the initial collision and struck another vehicle before leaving the highway. Information regarding injuries in the second collision was not immediately available.

The wreck led to the closure of I-93 South for approximately one hour on Sunday. Tague has been charged with several offenses, including speeding and negligent driving.

Investigators continue to examine all circumstances surrounding the collision. We are thinking of the injured driver and wish them strength and healing during recovery.

How Multi-Vehicle Highway Crashes Can Create Chain-Reaction Hazards

Multi-vehicle highway crashes can develop rapidly when an initial collision causes one or more vehicles to leave their lanes of travel. Secondary impacts may occur within seconds, increasing the risk of injuries and property damage.

Vehicles forced off the roadway can encounter additional hazards such as trees, embankments, guardrails, or other fixed objects. These secondary contacts can sometimes cause damage more severe than the initial collision.

When reviewing a chain-reaction crash, investigators often analyze vehicle speeds, driver actions, roadway conditions, and the sequence of impacts. Physical evidence from the highway and surrounding terrain may help establish how the vehicles moved after the first contact. Examining each stage of the sequence allows investigators to build a clearer timeline and better understand how the serious injuries occurred.
