What Can Cause Serious Motorcycle Crashes at Intersections?
Motorcycle crashes at intersections can happen when vehicles travel through the same space at different speeds or directions. A driver’s failure to see a motorcycle can leave very little time to avoid contact. Turning vehicles, lane changes, traffic signals, and vehicles entering an intersection can all create risks for riders.
Motorcyclists have less physical protection than people inside passenger vehicles. Even when a rider wears a helmet and protective clothing, a high-speed fall or contact with another vehicle can cause serious harm. Road conditions, visibility, traffic volume, and vehicle positioning can also affect how safely motorcycles move through intersections.
After a serious motorcycle accident, records may include photographs, vehicle damage, traffic signal information, witness accounts, and medical records. These details can help establish what happened and document the harm caused by the collision.
