Greeneville, TN (June 11, 2026) – A 52-year-old Greeneville man lost his life in a two-vehicle crash early on Thursday morning on W Andrew Johnson Hwy near Mt. Pleasant Rd. The collision was reported at approximately 5:48 a.m. near Jost International.

Emergency units were dispatched to the roadway after reports of a two-vehicle wreck involving an overturned vehicle. Upon arrival, crews found a 1999 Chevrolet pickup overturned and worked to extricate the driver.

The driver was identified as Paul Oaks, 52, of Greeneville. He died as a result of injuries sustained in the crash.

Officials have not released additional information regarding the second vehicle or the circumstances that led to the collision. Further details about the crash were not immediately available.

Investigators continue to examine the cause of the wreck. Our heartfelt condolences go out to the family and friends of Mr. Oaks during this difficult time.

Why Rollover Crashes Frequently Result in Severe Outcomes

Rollover crashes are among the more serious types of traffic collisions because they can subject vehicle occupants to multiple points of force during the sequence of events. These crashes may occur after a vehicle leaves its lane, strikes an object, or collides with another vehicle.

Vehicle design, speed, roadway conditions, and the angle of contact can all influence the likelihood of a rollover. Pickup trucks and other higher-profile vehicles generally have a higher center of gravity than passenger cars, which can affect rollover risk under certain circumstances.

When investigators review a rollover crash, they often analyze vehicle damage, roadway evidence, and the final resting positions of the vehicles. These findings can help establish how the rollover began and the factors that contributed to its severity.
