Midland, MI (September 6, 2026) – Two vehicles were involved in a serious accident at Eastman Avenue and W St. Andrews Road around 3:27 p.m. on Friday, September 4.

The drivers were taken to Michigan Medical Center’s Emergency Room. A 79-year-old Midland woman later died at the hospital. The other driver, a 27-year-old Midland man, remained hospitalized in stable condition while receiving treatment.

Alcohol is believed to have been a factor, though that has not been established as the final cause. Emergency units assisted at the site, and additional details about the collision were not immediately available.

The investigation into what led to the wreck is still underway.

Our deepest sympathies are with the deceased woman’s family and loved ones.

What Information Can Help Explain a Serious Two-Vehicle Accident?

A serious two-vehicle accident can involve several factors that help establish what happened. Investigators may review vehicle damage, photographs, road conditions, traffic signals, and available surveillance footage. Statements from drivers and witnesses can also provide information about the moments before the collision.

Medical records may document the nature and extent of physical harm after a person is taken to a hospital. Vehicle inspections can also reveal whether mechanical problems may have contributed to the accident. In some cases, toxicology results are reviewed when alcohol or drugs are suspected.

The timing and position of the vehicles can also help establish how the collision unfolded. Together, these records can provide a clearer picture of the circumstances surrounding a serious roadway accident.
