Ocala, FL (August 10, 2026) – A 77-year-old Ocala woman died after a collision involving an SUV and a speeding driver on Southwest 49th Avenue Road on Saturday, August 8, around noon. A 28-year-old man was driving north when he struck the SUV as it turned onto the road from a residential neighborhood.
The SUV carried three people. A 48-year-old man was slightly injured, while a 78-year-old man and the woman suffered serious injuries. The woman was taken to a hospital, where she later died.
The 28-year-old remained at the site and is facing charges. A second driver, who was also reportedly speeding north on Southwest 49th Avenue Road, has not been located. The circumstances surrounding the fatal accident remain under review as the inquiry continues.
