Forsyth, IL (September 9, 2026) – A 53-year-old Clinton man died on Sunday afternoon, September 7, after two vehicles struck each other head-on on Illiniwick Dr in Forsyth. The man, identified as Michael Spencer, was a passenger in a Dodge Ram pickup truck.
The accident happened around 1:50 p.m. near Maroa-Forsyth Grade School. The Ram was traveling west on Illiniwick Dr when it struck an eastbound Cadillac Escalade.
The pickup’s 63-year-old female driver was taken to a Springfield hospital with critical, life-threatening injuries. Two people inside the Cadillac were also taken to a Decatur hospital with critical injuries.
Witnesses told investigators that the Ram had been traveling at excessive speeds and driving erratically. Investigators are preparing an arrest warrant for the pickup driver, pending her release from the hospital. The wreck is being investigated further. The investigation into the circumstances surrounding the collision remains underway.
