Denver, CO (July 27, 2026) – One person died, and several others were hurt following a traffic collision on I-25 near Auraria Parkway in Denver.

The crash happened during the early morning hours of Saturday, July 25, along the northbound lanes of I-25 near Auraria Parkway. Emergency units arrived at the roadway, where multiple people were reported with serious injuries. Northbound traffic was temporarily shut down while crews worked in the roadway and investigators examined what had happened.

According to initial information, a pedestrian lost their life after getting out of a stalled vehicle and being struck by oncoming traffic. The number of vehicles involved has not yet been released, and the person who died has not been publicly identified.

The cause of the collision remains under review as investigators continue gathering evidence.

We extend our heartfelt condolences to the family and friends of the person who died and wish those hurt a full recovery.

Why Stalled Vehicles on High-Speed Highways Can Be Especially Dangerous

A disabled vehicle on an interstate can quickly become a serious safety hazard because traffic usually moves at highway speeds with little time for drivers to react. When a vehicle becomes disabled, motorists are generally encouraged to activate hazard lights, move as far from travel lanes as possible if it can be done safely, and contact roadside assistance or emergency services.

Pedestrians outside their vehicles face an increased risk on busy highways, particularly in low-light conditions or where traffic is heavy. Drivers approaching a disabled vehicle should reduce speed when possible, remain alert for people near the roadway, and change lanes if it is safe to do so. Taking these precautions can help reduce the likelihood of secondary crashes and improve safety for everyone traveling on the interstate.

1Seek treatment promptly after being injured in an accident. Your first priority should always be your health. Many providers offer treatment on a lien basis, meaning you can get the care you need now and pay later when your claim is resolved.
2Before speaking with an insurance company, make sure you have the facts. An official police report is the most reliable record of what happened and can help establish liability An experienced attorney can assist you in obtaining this report and using it to protect your interests.
3Consider having your case reviewed by a qualified attorney who can guide you through the next steps. They will safeguard your rights and pursue the compensation you deserve.
