Madison County, IN (July 23, 2026) – A motorcycle collision involving a passenger vehicle left one man dead and a child hospitalized after it occurred on July 20 in Madison County. The collision happened at the intersection of County Rd 100 E and County Rd 1300 N shortly before 10 p.m.
A 2016 Dodge Journey driven by Ruth A. Paugh, 46, of Anderson, was traveling eastbound when it entered the intersection and failed to yield to a northbound Kawasaki Vulcan motorcycle. The motorcycle was operated by Matthew Scott Doud, 33, of Summitville.
Doud was pronounced dead after the wreck, according to the Madison County Coroner’s Office. A child riding as a passenger on the motorcycle was taken to Peyton Manning Children’s Hospital in Indianapolis with significant injuries. Paugh remained at the location after the accident and was not hurt. She is cooperating with the investigation.
