Phoenix, AZ (July 27, 2026) – A man lost his life after a pedestrian crash along 16th St near McDowell Rd in Phoenix early on Friday, July 24.
The fatal collision happened just before 5:00 a.m. along 16th St. Emergency units arrived to find an SUV with heavy front-end damage and debris scattered across the roadway. The pedestrian, identified only as an adult man, was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver remained at the site and showed no signs of impairment, according to the initial report. Traffic along 16th St between McDowell Rd and the I-10 Fwy was restricted for several hours while crews worked and investigators documented the roadway.
The man’s identity has not yet been released, and no additional information about the collision was immediately available. The cause of the crash is still being examined, and more information is expected as the review continues.
