Columbus, GA (August 31, 2026) – A 33-year-old woman died early Monday morning, August 31, after a pedestrian was struck by a motor vehicle on the 1300 block of Macon Rd eastbound.
Emergency units found one person deceased. The woman was later identified as Beunkus Shanequa Collins, according to information released by the county coroner.
Collins was accidentally hit by the vehicle and died from blunt-force trauma. She was pronounced dead at 5:49 a.m.
Eastbound lanes were blocked while the circumstances surrounding the accident were examined.
The circumstances leading up to the collision remain under review as more information is gathered.
