What Factors Are Commonly Reviewed After a Two-Vehicle Highway Collision?
After a serious highway crash, investigators typically examine several details to better understand how the vehicles came together. Traffic flow, turning movements, and right-of-way are usually reviewed first, especially when one vehicle is entering or crossing lanes of travel.
Road visibility, lighting, weather, and vehicle speed may also be considered during the review process. In some cases, damage patterns on both vehicles can help explain the sequence of contact and how the drivers attempted to react before the collision occurred.
Medical findings may later provide additional context about the severity of harm involved. Investigators can also examine roadway markings, nearby business entrances, and witness statements to piece together a clearer timeline of what happened along the highway.
